Antenna Selection Guide

Choosing the right antenna is critical to your product's wireless performance. Use our selection framework to narrow down the best solution for your application.

1. Define Requirements

Start with your frequency bands (e.g., Sub-6 GHz, GNSS L1/L5, Wi-Fi 6E), required gain, bandwidth, and radiation pattern. Consider environmental factors such as operating temperature, IP rating, and mounting constraints.

2. Choose Form Factor

Select from embedded chip antennas, flexible PCB antennas, external stubby/whip antennas, or integrated combo antennas. Form factor choice depends on available board space, ground plane size, and enclosure materials.

3. Evaluate Performance

Review key metrics — peak gain (dBi), average efficiency (%), VSWR, isolation between ports (for MIMO), and radiation pattern coverage. Consider real-world factors including detuning from nearby components and housing materials.
